Virginia Department of Transportation Salt Pond Remediation

3e characterized 27 Salt Ponds for petroleum impacts for the Salem District of the Virginia Department of Transportation.  Based on the characterization a program of remediation plan was developed.  A precise coordinated program of vacuum truck removal of a total of 104,358 gallons of petroleum impacted sludge was executed in a 30 day timeframe. 3e provided VDOT with a cost savings of nearly $35,000 by reducing the contract rate for contaminated liquid disposal.
