Sussex County Solid Waste Services

3e managed all aspects of groundwater and landfill gas monitoring at the closed unlined Robinson Road landfill. Groundwater sampling is routinely conducted semiannually at five (5) monitoring wells, with six (6) additional characterization wells sampled as needed. 3e utilized third-party contractor laboratories for groundwater analyses in order to maintain an independent perspective on the data, and to leverage competitive pricing. 3e assisted the County with Consent Order negotiations.

 

3e negotiated final approved Groundwater Protection Standards (GPS) and initiated a Nature and Extent Study (NES) at the facility, including waste delineation and monitoring well installation. 3e presented a Proposed Presumptive Remedy (PPR) and the NES for comment review at a public meeting in January 2008. 3e conducts quarterly landfill gas monitoring at seven probes and a building, and prepares summary reports and recommendations for the County and DEQ.
