Example Projects
I-81 Juniper Sedge Habitat Evaluation and Survey
3e conducted a field survey for the state-listed endangered juniper sedge (Carex juniperorum) in Montgomery County, Virginia within the Interstate 81 Truck Climbing Lanes study area. All habitats in the study area that could potentially support the juniper sedge that were identified and mapped (in drought condition late in the season) in 2007 were re-evaluated (during optimal season-specific conditions) in 2008, and as needed, intensively searched for the juniper sedge.
Small Whorled Pogonia Habitat Evaluation and Survey, Quantico, Virginia
3e has conducted a habitat evaluation and search for the small whorled pogonia, Isotria medeoloides, (SWP) in a 138-acre area within Timber Compartment 2 on Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) in Stafford County, Virginia. Soil maps and data, aerial photographs, and previous SWP survey data was used to develop field maps to document habitat suitability during the field investigation portion of the survey.
