Hungry Mother and Fairy Stone State Park Dredging Projects
3e has carried out a multi-task project to evaluate alternatives and design dredging projects to restore the recreational value of Hungry Mother Lake and Fairy Stone Lake, the centerpieces of their respective parks.
3e's participation in the project began with our preparation of a feasibility study at each of the Parks to identify potential opportunities, costs, and barriers to completing the project successfully. We subsequently identified sites and designed disposal solutions for over 11,000 cubic yards of dredged sediments at Fairy Stone State Park and over 20,000 cubic yards of dredged sediments at Hungry Mother State Park.
3e completed environmental permitting (Sub-aqueous Bed permits, water protection, and Clean water Act Section 404 Individual Permits) for the proposed dredging projects and provided design drawings and bid documents for all phases of the dredging and disposal. On the Hungry Mother project, 3e also designed the wetland mitigation plan for a 1 acre impact to a emergent wetland.
3e completed Erosion and Sediment control plans and Stormwater Management Permits in accordance with Virginia requirements. 3e also provided environmental permit compliance monitoring during the construction of the projects including all required reporting to the Virginia and USACE.
